Smoke propagation in ventilation ducts
In a decommissioned retirement home in Schärding (Upper Austria), two comparative fire tests were carried out in patient rooms to establish the spread of smoke in ventilation ducts in case of fire. In the first test the ventilation services were shut down as is often the case in current building security technology. A second test examined the extraction of flue gases from the fire room with a ventilation system that was still operating.
The results of these examinations were considered in the revision of TRVB S 151 “Fire incident control systems”. TRVB S 151 will be available in an updated version in autumn 2017.
